Getting Involved

Not everyone wants to get involved in the same way. If you can volunteer your time, make a donation, or become an adovocate for literacy WE NEED YOUR HELP.

Volunteer Your Time With Kindergarten Readiness

Kindergarten Readiness (KR) is one of our major programs. We have two sessions each fall and spring. In the fall, Fox Elementary and 30th Avenue Preschool Center host our KR sessions. In the spring, Muscogee and Cusseta Road elementary schools are our host schools. As a volunteer you will be trained on the procedures for this program, and get to choose the school and day you would like to volunteer. If you are interested, email columbusreads@earthlink.net to receive information on our upcoming session.

Donate Books

Any new or used books in good condition are greatly appreciated.

One-Time Events

We also have one-time volunteer opportunities available. At some of our events -- such as our Annual Dictionary Labeling Event, Book Parade, Heroes Read, or our Annual Corporate Trivia Bee -- we need volunteers for support. Check out our "Events" page to see what we're doing in our community. Contact us if you're available to help on that day or simply come out and bring friends to show your support for improving literacy in our community.

Make a Monetary Donation

Any monetary donation you make can be directed to the area of your choice. Some of these areas include, but are not limited to:
*Books & training for Kindergarten Readiness Volunteers
*Dictionaries for The Dictionary Project
*Canvasses, paint, & paintbrushes for Favorite Word Project
*General books for our Book Parades
*Educational pamphlets

Attend and/or sponsor our Annual Corporate Triva Bee fundraiser and awareness event in February each year.
